AWARD MEMORANDUM - STEPS
Steps to receive your financial aid..
Please
indicate your award acceptance from the RU portal. Follow instructions
to accept or decline the award offer.
First-time Stafford Loan
borrowers at
RU must select a
lender for their Stafford Loan. You may do this on-line by following the
instructions provided as you accept your awards on-line. You will also need
to follow instructions on-line to sign your Stafford Master Promissory Note
and complete the Entrance Interview on-line. If additional information is
needed regarding your loan, you will be contacted at your RU e-mail account.
The university will provide a deferment of the amount of the Stafford Loan
award until funds are received, providing you have completed all
requirements to obtain the Stafford Loan.
Returning Stafford Loan Borrowers
at RU need only
to accept their Stafford Loan on-line. The loan will be processed after
completion of verification with the lender from which you borrowed last
year, unless you submit a new MPN with a new lender. If the lender that you
have borrowed from previously is no longer offering Federal Stafford Loans
or if your lender requires a new Master Promissory Note, we will notify you
by email at your RU email account.
Stafford Loan recipients should complete the RU
Direct Deposit Form that can be found at:
http://stuacct.asp.radford.edu to set up direct
deposit for loan proceeds that exceed student account charges.
Notify the RU Financial Aid
Office of any awards
that you will be receiving that are not listed in your award information.
You may do this on-line as you complete your award acceptance or you may
send us an email listing all awards that you will be receiving at
finaid@radford.edu . Please remember to include
your RU Student ID number. Awards include scholarships, loans, grants,
stipends, assistantships, and any other award that is not listed in your
award information. Also, read Scholarships in Section V of this Award
Memorandum.
You will have thirty days to complete your on-line
award letter (Master Promissory Note and Entrance Interview, if
applicable). After thirty days, the awards will be cancelled. After
cancellation of the awards, if you wish to request to be reconsidered for
financial aid, you will need to send us an email at
finaid@radford.edu and be sure to include your RU
ID number.
The financial aid offered to you
is subject to change due to verification, your receipt of outside financial
aid, enrollment changes, etc. You will be notified by email at your RU
email account of any additional documents needed to complete your
application and of any changes made to your awards. You should monitor the
status of your financial aid on-line using the RU Portal and clicking on
financial aid information. You will have thirty days to respond to the
email (or the last day of classes, whichever is sooner) before inactivation
of your application and/ or cancellation of awards.
Students whose financial aid exceeds university
charges should complete a Bookstore Voucher in July for Fall semester and
November for Spring semester. This allows students to set up a
bookstore charge account in RU’s Bookstore. The voucher can be found at the
end of the brochure that accompanies the billing statement. Students may
also complete the Bookstore Voucher on-line at
http://stuacct.asp.radford.edu.
Enroll full-time unless you have notified the RU
Financial Aid Office of part-time enrollment. If you decide to enroll
part-time, notify the RU Financial Aid Office in writing. This can be done
by mailing, e-mailing or faxing a note to the RU Financial Aid Office, or
you can print the “Adjustment for Hours” form from our web site:
http://www.radford.edu/~finaid/forms.html .
See Section VI in this Memorandum.
If you decide not to
attend Radford University, please notify us as soon as possible. Failure to
withdraw from classes for which you have registered may result in unwanted
grades or future financial aid ineligibility.
Review the RU Financial Aid Standards of Progress
