GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Financial Aid Information Page -- Created by Mark Kantrowitz and sponsored by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administratiors (NASFAA). The page offers an abundance of information on numerous areas of financial aid such as the following: general information on Needs Analysis; U.S. Government; student loans; scholarships; estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) calculators; Title IV school codes; financial aid offices' web pages; access to The Student Guide; Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) instructions; etc.
  • Students.gov - U. S. Government site for students.
  • VPEP - Information on Virginia's College Savings Plan.
  • Virginia State Council for Higher Education - Created by the state of Virginia, this site lists various programs offered through the state of Virginia as well as other sources.
  • U.S. Department of Education - Created by the U.S. Department of Education, this site offers an overview of information on financial aid for students.
  • Federal Student Aid Home Page - This site provides links to many federal publications and agencies regarding financial aid.
  • Expected Family Contribution (EFC) calculators- Students can calculate an estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the family's income and asset information and detemrine an "estimated" need by subtracting the EFC from the estimated cost of attendance at different colleges and universities.
  • NASFAA - Information about the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators for parents and students such as TIPS: Timely Information for Parents and Students; CASH for College - A Guide to Student Financial Assistance (can be ordered for $24.95 each).
  • Hope Scholarship and Lifetime Learning tax credit - Information on the Hope Scholarship tax credit for the first two years of postsecondary education and vocational study. 
  • NCAA - NCAA Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete -- Provides answers to many questions that students may have about participating in sports at the collegiate level.
  • U.S. Selective Service - This site allows students to register with Selective Service on-line.
  • U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) - This site provides tax information and forms.
COLLEGE INFORMATION
  • American College Testing Service - This site provides information to college-bound students. For students who are required to take the ACT test, information is included here.
  • College Board Online - This site provides general information for students going to college.
  • Educational Testing Service Online - This is another site providing information for student attending college. Also, includes information related to the SAT test.
  • Peterson's Education and Career Center -- This site also provides information for many questions about college attendance.
  • CollegeQuest - This free online service offers profiles of every undergraduate institution accredited in the United States, along with specially-designed tools to help you manage the college admissions process. 
  • U.S. Universities and Community Colleges - Listing by state of universities and community colleges.
  • College Opportunities on line - College Opportunities On-Line is brought to you by the National Center for Education Statistics in the U.S. Department of Education. It is your direct link to over 9,000 colleges and universities in the United States. If you are thinking about a large university, a small liberal arts college, a specialized college, a community college, a career or technical college or a trade school, you can find them all here.
APPLICATION PROCESSING
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASA) - Students are able to complete the FAFSA on the web and transmit the information via the Internet. The student is still required to print, complete, and mail through the regular mail the signature page.   However, the student and parent may obtain a pin number that will act as their signature.  Click here for the Pin Number website.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
  • FASTWEB - This is the Internet's largest free scholarship search available to both student and parents. You can actually apply for scholarships and create a mailbox to receive information daily about your search. There is also information available on local and federal aid and you can browse through frequently asked questions. Information is also available for high school counselors and college administrators.
  • Radford University Foundation Scholarships - Radford University Foundation, Inc. offers scholarship competition each year for upperclass RU students as well as new students.
  • College Answer -  This is a free scholarship search service regarding information on financial aid, scholarship process, etc.
  • Attack on America Scholarship Programs - Educational funds that have been established since September 11th.
