Radford University Scholars Program Admission Application The Scholars Program provides scholarships to outstanding high school graduates. Funded through the Radford University Foundation., the scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis, without consideration of financial need. See website
Federal Teach Grant RU Teach Grant Application & FAFSA Up to $4,000 per year The Federal Teach Grant program is a federal grant program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students (regardless of income or need) who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low income families in a high need teaching field.  Failure to complete the required teaching service requirements or an eligible program/major/concentration cause the grant to become a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan.   The obligation must be completed within eight years of completing your program.  Review the service agreement for details.  For all requirements, click on the Federal Teach Grant to the left.

Section 23-7.1, Code of Virginia, provides for tuition-free educational benefits at any state-supported college or university for children of permanently and totally disabled veterans, for children orphaned by an act of war, or for orphans and spouses of certain law enforcement officers, correctional and jail personnel, sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, fire fighters, members of rescue squads, and alcoholic beverage control agents who have been killed in the line of duty while serving or living in the Commonwealth. Both tuition and fees is covered by this program. Contact the Division of War Veterans' Claims Office.

Federal Parent Loan For Undergraduate Students (PLUS) FAFSA, PLUS application, and the PLUS Promissory Note Up to Cost of Education Interest rate fixed 7.9%. Repayment begins 60 days after loan disbursement unless parent defers the loan through the lender. NONE

Armed Forces     The Army provides many college funding opportunities from accumulating money to attend college to helping college students repay student loans.  

  *Some programs may require recipients to be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or in another approved status for receipt of Title IV funds. In addition, some programs require students to be at least 1/2 time, in a degree-granting program, and maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

**Because funds in these programs are limited, students applying by March 1 before the academic year in which they will be entering will receive priority consideration for these funds.
