Summer Financial Aid

Summer Financial Aid Applications will be available online and in the Financial Aid Office in late January.

Beginning Summer 2010, RU will no longer be participating in the FFELP Stafford Loan program.  We will be moving into the Federal Direct Stafford Loan program.  ALL students will be required to complete new Master Promissory Notes with the Direct Stafford Loan program if your are borrowing Federal Direct Stafford Loan funds.  (If you receive a message when you go to this site about website security certificate, click on "Continue to website".

Students who would like to borrow from the Federal Direct Stafford Loan program must have eligibility remaining from the prior year.  FFELP Stafford loans are included in the calculation for remaining Federal Direct Stafford Loan eligibility.

Students may not have already borrowed the maximum loan amount during the previous Fall and Spring semester.

Students interested in Summer Financial Aid must complete a separate Summer Financial Aid Application by March 1, 2010.  The form is available on-line through the student's MY RU account.

To receive Summer Financial Aid undergraduate students must enroll in at least six credits at Radford University. Graduate students must enroll in at least five credits at Radford University. You must have filed a 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Students Aid (FAFSA) and finalized this application.  Your eligibility will be based on that FAFSA.

Satisfactory Academic Progress will be checked after Spring 2010 grades are posted (for students enrolled at Radford University).  If summer financial aid is awarded to a student who is not making progress after spring grades are reviewed, their financial aid will be cancelled. An appeals process is available. View the policy at finaid.asp.radford.edu .

Summer eligibility WILL NOT be determined until you are registered for the credit hours that you reported on your Summer application in the terms that you indicated.  If you need to adjust your hours, you must complete a Change of hours form.

Limited funds are available during the summer.  Normally students will receive a Federal Direct Stafford Loan and a Pell grant if eligible.  Students may only borrow Federal Direct Stafford loan funds if they have remaining eligibility from the prior Fall and Spring semester (including amounts borrowed through the FFELP Stafford Loan program.
