Letter from the Director..
Dear Student:
I am very pleased to
learn of your interest in the financial assistance program at Radford
University and encourage you to apply for assistance if appropriate.
The university has a
distinguished record of providing financial assistance to a large number
of students. Last year, approximately sixty-five percent of our students
received financial assistance.
For the 2010-2011
academic year, a student should complete only the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
This form is available on the web at
(http://www.fafsa.ed.gov).
A separate Radford University Financial Aid
Information sheet is required only for
Alternative Loan
applicants, when students have not applied for other types of financial
aid. Students interested in attending summer terms are required to file
a separate summer financial aid application. This form is
available on MY
RU on the Financial Aid Tab.
Most financial aid awards
are made to those students who have been admitted and whose forms or
financial aid data are received in the Financial Aid Office by
February 1 2010. In
order to meet this deadline, we recommend that you file your Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) through Federal Student Aid
Programs, no later than January 2 ,2010. Renewal applicants would
receive the Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid in December
2009. Renewal applicants may also file their Renewal FAFSA on the web,
but first a student must obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
Late applications will be considered only as aid becomes available. The
February 1 deadline does not apply to the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal
Direct Stafford Loan and the Federal Direct PLUS Loan programs.
Please remember that your
FAFSA application has to be finalized before accurate awarding can
occur.
If you have any questions
regarding the financial aid process, please contact the staff in the
Financial Aid Office.
Sincerely,
Barbara Porter
Director of Financial Aid
