The Student Employment Program at
Radford University offers a valuable experience for students. Students
work on campus twelve hours per week. For the 2008-09 academic year,
students will earn $6.55 per hour and will work a total of 180 hours per
semester or 360 hours per academic year.
Students learn valuable skills
that will help them become excellent employees. Student employment
allows students to meet and work with staff, faculty, and
administrators across campus. Students become an integral part of the
university community. The student employment experience can help build
an excellent resume.
The majority of positions are
offered to students who establish need through the Free Application For
Federal Student Aid. However, positions are available to any student
after the second week of classes Fall semester. Students who establish
need are given first priority for any positions that may be available.
Some of the work positions are
part of our community service project. Students in these positions
support the university's service to the community and in some cases
include tutoring local children.
Students who are interested in working on the student employment program
should file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid by March 1 prior
to the academic year. For the 2008-09 academic year, priority is given
to students who establish need and file before March 1, 2008.
If the student is
eligible, student employment will be one of the awards offered to the
student on their
award letter. Students may begin
contacting supervisors after June 15 for the Fall and Spring
semester.
Supervisors will
notify the Financial Aid Office of students they desire to hire.
Contracts and other paperwork will be sent to the supervisors for
students to complete.
Beginning with the
second week of classes, student employment jobs are open to any student
who wants to work. Students hired after the second week of classes do
not have to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Jobs will be posted
throughout the semester. Students should check the job listings
periodically.
Summer jobs are
available to students who are taking at least 6 hours in summer school.
Students must complete a summer financial aid application. Priority is
given to those who establish need and have filed a summer application
before March 1.
Students who have
established need through the results of the FAFSA are always given
priority for any positions available.
