DEPARTMENTAL REQUESTS FOR STUDENT POSITIONS
Each spring, the Financial Aid Office will send to departments, deans, and vice presidents a set of forms to request student positions (not specific students) for the following year. Departments must make requests each year. Materials are distributed to departments in February with a March deadline. A letter will accompany the forms explaining the procedures to be followed for requesting workers. See the employment calendar for exact dates. If a supervisor would like to make a request for student positions, but did not receive a packet of information, please contact the Assistant Director of Financial Aid for information. All positions for the upcoming summer and academic year are determined in March. Keep in mind, when requesting workers, students eligible for Federal Work Study will have priority for positions prior to any requested students who do not qualify for Federal Work Study.
The Selection Committee will study the departmental requests and make the decisions regarding the number of student workers for each department. The selection committee is composed of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Business Affairs, the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Vice President for University Advancement, the Vice President for University Planning and Research, the Assistant Vice President for Finance, the Director and the Assistant Director of Financial Aid. Departments will be notified of the results of their requests by mid-April.
